Study Biomedical Engineering

Bio-medical engineering is the application of engineering principles and design concepts to medicine and biology for the purposes of health care. This also help design the next generation of systems and treatments the can help advance a patient’s quality of life. Bio-medical engineers are responsible for many breakthroughs such as the creation of artificial organs, blood chemistry sensors and surgical services.

 

Students who are interested in studying bio-medical engineering for further education (bachelors and masters degree) need to have a background on the basic sciences such as chemistry, biology and physics. Other subjects that are needed to study bio-medical engineering are math (students need to be familiar with algebra, geometry, trigonometry and calculus), English, social studies and humanities. A large number of universities in the UK such as the University of Glasgow, Leicester and City London University stress on IGCSE and ‘A’ level results between A and C in sciences and mathematics as well as a form of English language qualification such as IELTS. At the same time universities in the US such as Drexel and Wright require a grade point of 3.3 or higher with a total of 77.5 -90 credits from school.
